JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE

 

Columbia Missourian — Multimedia Journalist (2014)

- Shot photographs and video for the Missourian’s print and online publications with a subscriber reach of 39,000

- Wrote articles to accompany photo essays and stories found on feature hunts

- Pitched weekly text story and photo essay ideas

 

The San Telmo Sun — Photojournalist (2013)
(El Sol de San Telmo) — Buenos Aires, Argentina

- Produced photographs to accompany stories published in the free monthly community newspaper for Buenos Aires’ historic San Telmo neighborhood 

- Worked with volunteer editors and reporters to pitch stories and produce content during monthly planning meetings

 

Convergence Reporting — Multimedia Journalist (2012) 

- Produced weekly multimedia feature stories for publication on KBIA, the Columbia, Mo., NPR affiliate; KOMU, the Columbia, Mo., NBC affiliate; and the Columbia Missourian

- Produced spot news coverage for KBIA and KOMU

- Wrote scripts and edited video for Newsy, an online video news analysis site


SOCIAL JUSTICE WORK

Wisconsin Democracy Campaign — Development Assistant (2015)

- Maintained database of donor and members records.

- Provided support to research and outreach staff to continue WDC’s mission of promoting transparency in state government.

 

Diversity Peer Educators — Educator (2013-2014)

- Facilitated interactive programs for students focused on creating a greater sense of understanding and respect for the diverse communities at MU

- Underwent extensive training on issues related to race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, ability and religion

 

Centro Latino of Columbia, Mo. — ESL Tutor (2010-2014)

-Taught English as a second language to four adult immigrants from Spanish-speaking countries on a one-on-one basis.

-Helped recent immigrants acclimate to life in mid-Missouri; answered questions about day-to-day activities like buying furniture, job searching, getting vehicles repaired, etc.

 

Mizzou Alternative Breaks — Director of Partnerships (2013-2014)

- Served on the seven-member board of directors that oversaw MAB’s expansion into the second largest alternative breaks program in the country, running weekly meetings for nearly 150 site leaders and overseeing the fundraising efforts for nearly 70 trips

- Trained and managed 32 site leaders throughout the planning of meaningful week-long service trips sponsored by 16 campus organizations, residence halls and academic schools

- Created an official framework for partnership trips to become a permanent part of MAB’s programming & oversaw the expansion of such trips from 3 to 16 in one year

 

Central Missouri Stop Human Trafficking Coalition — Intern (2013)

- Managed the Coalition’s social media accounts and website, including photographing and publicizing Coalition events

- Assisted Coalition board members in other projects, including interview transcription, Spanish translation and advertisement design

- Began Implementation of the Coalition’s plan for outreach to the Spanish-speaking community in mid-Missouri.
 

Argentine Gender, Science and Technology Network — Photo Intern (2013)

(Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnología) — Buenos Aires, Argentina 

- Photographed and researched more than 200 historical feminist posters from Latin America for a online catalogue that will be used for academic research
